THE AUSPICIOUS

Two weeks ago, this horse performed well in a 2000m Sha Tin run. He was slow to break from the stalls, settled back, maintained an average pace throughout, and managed to regain some ground in the closing stages. Fortunately, he was not too far behind, finishing only two and a half lengths off the winner. Switching to Happy Valley over 1800m, this was his debut distance on the turf. He carries two pounds less weight this time, and his sectional times are acceptable. Running in a competitive gallop from the rear, his finishing kick was the most impressive in the field. The jockey has good command over the horse, and the trainer-jockey partnership remains smooth. Training efforts are diligent, but his current form doesn't perfectly align with the race conditions; he is worth a consideration for an outsider bet.
