PING HAI COMET

Trial on May 18th (Sha Tin turf barrier trial 1000m: 6-7-7) shows a lack of early speed but with a strong late surge. On May 11th (Sha Tin turf barrier trial 1200m: 6-6-6), the jump was average, tracking steadily and showing no real acceleration. On May 7th (Sha Tin dirt trial 1200m: 5-6-7), the jockey pressed, but there was no response. Three months ago in a long race on Happy Valley turf, the performance was poor; he was allowed to run freely but weakened in the final stages and suffered a heavy defeat. After three preparatory trials, no improvement was noted. In his last run over 1600m on Sha Tin turf, the time was not outstanding, and the conditions were unfavorable; his finishing kick was somewhat lacking, and the jockey-trainer coordination was not ideal. Fortunately, he has previous performance records and will carry three pounds less in this race, but there isn't a clear opportunity.
