After arriving at the Start, an adjustment was made to the tongue tie fitted to WITHALLMYHEART. ACCELERATOR was slow to begin. SPICY HOT began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of WITHALLMYHEART. From the 400 Metres until the 250 Metres, GEM MASTER was held up and unable to obtain clear running. At the 150 Metres, LUCKY CORDELIA and SPICY HOT raced tight due to SPICY HOT shifting in. Because of this, G Mossé stopped riding and straightened his mount. Throughout the race, SPARKLE travelled wide and without cover. G Mossé (SPICY HOT) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse where it was comfortable. He said he was told if SPICY HOT began well, it was satisfactory to go forward provided he was not required to make use of the horse. He said after beginning only fairly, he elected to take SPICY HOT back and travel with the rear. He said because of the manner in which SPICY HOT began, it travelled slightly further back than he would have liked. He said in his opinion if he had made use of SPICY HOT in the early stages, the horse would not close the race off in the manner in which it did. W M Lai (KINGSTON GLORY) said he had been instructed to ride his mount quietly and save it for one run in the Home Straight. He said KINGSTON GLORY began well, he immediately took hold of his mount and steadied it back to race in last position. He said in the Home Straight KINGSTON GLORY did not respond to his riding and finished tailed out. Mr T K Ng, trainer of KINGSTON GLORY, confirmed the riding instructions issued to W M Lai. He said KINGSTON GLORY tends to pull in slowly run races when ridden in a forward position. He said because of this when the horse races at Happy Valley where the tempo of the races is generally quicker, KINGSTON GLORY is ridden forward, however, at Sha Tin where the tempo of the races is more moderate, he believes KINGSTON GLORY is better suited being ridden quietly. He said KINGSTON GLORY performed well when being ridden in a rearward position in the past. KINGSTON GLORY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KINGSTON GLORY after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of KINGSTON GLORY, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KINGSTON GLORY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WITHALLMYHEART, PLEASURE PLEASURE and ACCELERATOR were sent for sampling.
