GLENEALY ELITE began awkwardly, causing B Prebble, its rider, to become unbalanced in the saddle. As a consequence, GLENEALY ELITE lost ground at the start. CLEMENT ELITE began awkwardly, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of RED RULER. As a consequence, CLEMENT ELITE lost ground. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, WEALTH SYNERGY steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of VICTORY SPEEDY which was carried in by BROTHERS IN ARMS (G Boss). In the circumstances, G Boss was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, VICTORY SPEEDY raced ungenerously, shifted out and was checked away from the heels of BROTHERS IN ARMS. SILVER WRAITH was steadied to avoid the heels of VICTORY SPEEDY in consequence. At the 500 Metres, FASTER FASTER was checked when crowded for room between GLENEALY ELITE and SILVER WRAITH (H W Lai) which shifted out slightly when not clear. In the circumstances, H W Lai was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. In the early part of the Straight, ABLE DANCER and RED RULER raced tight. For the major part of the race, RED RULER travelled wide and without cover. GLENEALY ELITE, BROTHERS IN ARMS and RED RULER were sent for sampling.
