HURRICANE DASH was withdrawn on 11.4.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (back pain) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter JADE DRAGONFLY (Z Purton). Before being allowed to race again, HURRICANE DASH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EURO SWIFTLY was slow into stride. In the early stages, HORACE'S LEGEND was taken back. Making the Home Turn, JADE DRAGONFLY was awkwardly placed inside DYNAMIC and close to the heels of DANZULU. For some distance after straightening, FAT CHOY ICHIBAN had difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 300 Metres, DANZULU, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied away from the heels of HIGH INTELLIGENT. The performances of DYNAMIC and EURO SWIFTLY, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DYNAMIC and EURO SWIFTLY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. P H Lo (NAMJONG FIGHTERS) explained as the horse had been performing poorly, he was asked to endeavour to ride it in a forward position today. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MING HOI TREASURE, E Saint-Martin said his mount worked strongly on the track wearing blinkers in the lead up to today's race. He said MING HOI TREASURE travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages despite racing in a three wide position without cover. He said when placed under pressure after straightening MING HOI TREASURE disappointed in that it failed to respond to his riding. He said MING HOI TREASURE kept on only fairly until the 200 Metres and then commenced to give ground. Following the race, Z Purton reported his mount was making an abnormal breathing noise. MING HOI TREASURE and JADE DRAGONFLY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MING HOI TREASURE and JADE DRAGONFLY after the race did not show any significant findings. YOUNG ELITE and HOME TREASURE were sent for sampling.
