PERFECT TEN and PACHINKO were slow to begin. B Prebble reported that after being slow to begin, PERFECT TEN was reluctant to stride out throughout the race despite being ridden along. FLYING SUPREME began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, LUCKY AMORE, which was slow to begin, was steadied away from the heels of TOUCH LUCKY which shifted out when that horse was brushed by BLADE FORCE. Also shortly after the start, BLUE MAGIC shifted in and bumped DASH. Despite being ridden along, TOUCH LUCKY was slow to muster speed and consequently raced back in the field. In the early stages, BLUE MAGIC proved difficult to settle and near the 1000 Metres shifted out and bumped TURF WINNER. Then approaching the 600 Metres, BLUE MAGIC, which continued to prove difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of STAR LEGEND which shifted in slightly. In the early and middle stages, LUCKY AMORE raced greenly and proved difficult to settle, then in the Straight got its head on the side and hung in. Also in the early and middle stages, THE RIFLE travelled wide and without cover. In the middle stages, WONDERFUL DOLPHIN got its head up and hung out. Approaching the 200 Metres, STAR LEGEND shifted out abruptly when being ridden with the whip. Then near the 100 Metres, after G Cheyne, the rider of STAR LEGEND, changed the whip to his left hand, STAR LEGEND then ran in abruptly. TURF WINNER, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence. Passing the 200 Metres, BE MY SONG was inconvenienced by FLYING SUPREME which shifted in under pressure. Throughout the race, BLADE FORCE travelled wide and without cover. THE RIFLE, FLYING SUPREME and BE MY SONG were sent for sampling.
