The Veterinary Officer reported that YOUNG ELITE was found to have shifted its right front plate in the stable early in the day and suffered a superficial wound to the sole of that foot. The Veterinary Officer advised that at the time of inspection, the wound was not bleeding, there was no heat in the right front foot as a consequence of the puncture and that the horse was free in its action and was not displaying any sign of lameness. YOUNG ELITE was examined on arrival at the Parade Ring and again after proceeding to the barriers. On both occasions, YOUNG ELITE was found to be suitable to race. Near the 1200 Metres, EXCELLENT BOY proved difficult to settle and was steadied away from the heels of YOUNG ELITE. Near the 100 Metres, Apprentice M L Yeung (DANESIS) dropped his whip. Inside the 100 Metres, IRON FIST shifted out and brushed YOUNG ELITE. Throughout the race, ROMA PEGASUS travelled wide and without cover. IRON FIST and YOUNG ELITE were sent for sampling.
