On 4/7, a dirt trial over 1050m saw the horse positioned fifth throughout, showing little promise. On 23/6, in a turf trial at Conghua over 1000m, he ran along the rail at an average pace. A further turf trial at Conghua on 9/6 over 800m was unremarkable following recovery from injury. Prior to June, his run over Sha Tin’s 1400m turf was below expectations; settled in a good position tracking the leaders, he made a mid-race move with a strong two-section effort but faded towards the finish, beaten three lengths into fifth place. After a long break, the horse has undergone three barrier trials without showing significant improvement. Another Sha Tin 1200m turf trial is now scheduled, this time carrying an additional 3 pounds. The timing of competitors in the same group is reasonable and drawing a favorable barrier allows for a potential pace-setting run. He appears to be a strong contender in this race; Matthew Poon takes the ride, demonstrating understanding of the horse’s temperament. Despite a lack of finishing kick and a less successful history with previous trainers, a clean jump should allow him to settle comfortably and contend for a forward position.
