On September 12th, a dirt trial over 1200m at Conghua saw the horse deliberately track another runner, showing a restrained pace. On January 9th, a turf trial over 1000m also at Conghua was completed with an easy stride and steady following pace. This is the horse’s first run of the season after a period of rest. Two trials have been conducted without significant improvement observed. He will carry one pound more weight this time; he has previous form over this distance, and his trial times are reasonable. A hold-up strategy is expected, with a decent finishing kick anticipated. Overall shape looks promising, possessing relative strength compared to other contenders. The jockey has some understanding of the horse’s capabilities but the trainer/jockey combination isn't ideal, though the horse appears well-conditioned.
