LUCKY MAN

On September 23rd (dirt trial 1200m: 1-1-2), the horse broke well but was crossed early on. Three weeks ago, in a Sha Tin turf 1400m race, it performed poorly, settling in a good position tracking the leaders and attempting to accelerate mid-race, but faded significantly. A subsequent barrier trial showed slight improvement. Another dirt trial over 1200m was completed, this time carrying one pound more weight. It settled towards the rear during the trial and lacked the finishing kick of its rivals. Trainer and jockey don't seem to be a strong pairing, however, drawing an inside barrier is favorable. The switch to Andrea Atzeni suggests connections are hoping for a better understanding of the horse’s capabilities and a potential surprise performance.
