Two weeks ago in a race over the same distance, this horse performed poorly, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear. It made a mid-race effort but faded at the finish, finishing well-beaten. This time it benefits from a three-pound weight reduction, has good timing within its group, and is expected to settle in a good position tracking the leaders. Drawing an inside barrier and with Matthew Poon taking the ride – who has some familiarity with the horse’s capabilities – despite a weak finishing kick, the situation isn't ideal and the trainer-jockey combination lacks synergy, but it may still have a positive impact.
