SUNDAY'S SERENADE

On September 23rd, (dirt trial 1200m: 7-9-9) maintained a steady pace while tracking the leaders. Three weeks ago, over Sha Tin turf 1200m, delivered a very good performance despite a slow start and settling towards the rear before finishing with a strong two-section tempo. He finished sixth, beaten three and a half lengths. A subsequent barrier trial showed no notable improvement. Another turf trial over 1400m is planned; this time he carries no additional weight. His section times were unremarkable in comparison to other horses in his group, necessitating a hold-up tactic, but lacked the required finishing kick against competitors. Despite an unfavorable overall situation, drawing an inside barrier offers some potential if prepared well.
