On December 22nd, this horse recorded a dirt trial over 1200m in sections of 5-7-3, finishing third after making a late run from three lengths back. Five weeks ago, over the same distance, he ran well despite a slow start and settling towards the rear. He made good ground in the final two sections but was beaten two and a half lengths, finishing eighth. A subsequent barrier trial showed slight improvement. This time he will carry an additional two pounds, requiring a hold-up tactic; however, his finishing kick is unlikely to match rivals. While his section times were comparable within the group and he drew an inside barrier, the jockey's assessment of the horse’s ability is cautious, though trainer and jockey maintain a good working relationship, with no obvious signs of opportunity at this stage.
