GOLDEN LUCK

Five weeks ago, this horse ran acceptably over a Happy Valley 1200m, settling in a good position tracking the leaders and making a move in the middle stages but failing to sustain it, finishing fourth. He was beaten by one and a half lengths and showed decent form. A recent dirt trial (1200m: 3-3-6) saw him travel at a moderate pace early on before being held together down the straight. Now stepping up to Sha Tin over 1400m with a two-pound weight reduction, facing similar times in its group and drawing a good barrier, it is expected to contend for the lead. Based on relative ability, this horse appears to be the strongest contender in the race. Derek Leung takes the ride, demonstrating familiarity with the horse's capabilities and enjoying a positive relationship with the trainer. A clean break should see him positioned forward.
