VERMILION TEMPEST

On March 6th, a turf trial over 1200m at Conghua saw the horse make a narrow move towards the end but didn't fully extend itself. Eight weeks ago in a dirt race over 1800m, the performance was disappointing; a slow start led to settling back in the field with an even pace throughout and an uninspiring run. A barrier trial showed it struggling to keep up with the required speed. Returning to Happy Valley mile this time requires carrying an additional three pounds, but its time wasn’t impressive. The draw is unfavorable, trainer-jockey combination isn't ideal; however, a strong finishing kick within the group suggests it shouldn't be discounted.
