On May 13th, during a turf trial at Conghua over 1200m (4-4-4), the horse maintained a steady pace with acceptable effort. A recent winner, five weeks ago in the same distance race, it showed good form despite a slow start and settling towards the rear before finishing strongly to win. The subsequent barrier trial performance was satisfactory. This time it will carry an additional 5 pounds, having previously won twice over this course and distance, recording the fastest time amongst its group. The jockey has some understanding of the horse’s capabilities, and there is a good working relationship between trainer and jockey. Despite drawing a poor barrier, the likely tactic is to settle towards the rear, though finishing kick may not be strong enough against rivals, making its chances for defending the title questionable.
