On June 27th, a turf trial over 1000m at Conghua showed impressive speed with both early and finishing pace. Six weeks ago, this horse ran well in a Happy Valley 1200m race, jumping slowly but finishing strongly in the final two sections; beaten three and a half lengths for seventh place. A subsequent barrier trial indicated slight improvement. Another turf trial over a shorter distance at Happy Valley is next, carrying four pounds less weight this time with good section times alongside its group. An advantageous draw suggests a hold-up tactics will be employed, possessing the strongest finishing kick in its group; shape looks promising. Hugh Bowman takes the ride, having some familiarity with the horse’s capabilities and trainer shares similar racing philosophy. The horse appears tense and is considered a significant contender.
