MODEST GENTLEMAN

Two weeks ago, this horse ran impressively over a Happy Valley 1200m, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear before making a strong late run in fast sections. He has trialled again over a Happy Valley sprint distance and benefits from a four-pound weight reduction this time. Having previously secured two wins over this course and distance, with good sectionals recorded, drawing a favorable barrier, the plan is to settle back early, relying on a strong finishing kick. The jockey understands the horse's weaknesses; despite an unfavorable situation, the trainer-jockey combination isn’t ideal, suggesting it may be a longshot contender.
