SUNSET TRAIL

On June 30th (dirt trial 1200m: 4-4-6), the horse moved out on the bend, maintained a good position tracking the pace. On June 17th (dirt trial 1200m: 3-4-4), he pushed forward early and shifted outwards after 200m, chasing comfortably. On June 6th (dirt trial 1200m: 5-6-7), the horse was urged forward with strong riding but showed signs of weakening in stride. May 23rd (Conghua turf trial 1200m: 2-2-5), he tracked the leaders and faded slightly towards the finish. On May 13th (Conghua turf trial 1000m: 6-6-6), his action appeared a little stiff, below par. This is the horse’s debut run as a newcomer. He began training in Hong Kong at the end of February and has trialled five times this season with moderate results; his stride length is slightly high and pace fairly consistent. Likely suited to 1400m-mile distances. Acceleration isn't strong, but he shows willingness to chase. For this debut race, depending on the pace and with a relatively weak field, a smooth jump and a commitment to track the leaders could give him a chance.
