Three weeks ago, this horse ran a respectable race over dirt 1200m, with a slow jump and settling towards the rear. He showed a strong late run to finish fourth, beaten by one and a half lengths. Now stepping up to a mile on dirt for his first attempt at this distance, he benefits from a one-pound weight reduction. Despite drawing an inside barrier, a hold-up tactic is expected; however, finishing kick is promising and the horse appears in good form. The jockey has a basic understanding of the horse’s capabilities, and trainer/jockey relationship is reasonable, but this distance may not suit him – a cautious approach is advised.
