Three weeks ago, over the same distance, this horse performed very well, jumping slowly and settling back in the field before making a strong late run with fast sectionals to finish third, beaten by half a length. This time he carries only a 3lb penalty, has a good group time, and draws an advantageous inside barrier – a favorable situation. He appears as a leading contender in this race; Derek Leung takes the ride, understanding the horse’s temperament well, but may need to settle for a position behind the leaders due to a weaker finishing kick compared to rivals, trainer/jockey combination not ideal.
