Three weeks ago, the horse performed strongly in a 1800m dirt race, tracking near the pace with an even cruising speed, gradually closing in at the finish to secure second place, beaten only two and a half lengths. In its subsequent dirt mile trial, the horse has one pound less in this race; it has won two races over this trip with acceptable timing. The draw is not poor, and the jockey-trainer partnership appears to be working well. Even if the conditions are not entirely favorable or the closing speed is slightly lacking, it may still have a chance.
