POPE CODY
Horse analysis
8/9 (Dirt trial 1200m: settled fourth, moved out to second in the bend). This is his first start this season; two months ago, he performed excellently in a Happy Valley 1800m race. Although slow to leave the gate and tracked from behind with a steady pace, he gradually closed in during the final stages to finish as runner-up. Fortunately, he was not heavily weighted and only lost one length, showing a high level of ability. He has run another trial and shown slight improvement. Heading into the race, he tried a Happy Valley mile, where his time was acceptable for a first attempt at this distance. His form remains stable; despite having to carry an extra eight pounds, the trip being somewhat unsuitable, and unfavorable track position, he should be considered a supporting runner in this event.
