Three weeks ago, this horse ran well over a Sha Tin 1400m turf track, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear before making ground with fast sections in the final two furlongs. He finished fifth, beaten two and a half lengths. A recent trial on the Conghua turf (1200m: 4-4-4) saw him travel wide but maintain a steady pace. Another turf trial over 1600m has been completed. This time he carries no additional weight; he has previous form over this distance and draws an advantageous inside barrier. Zac Purton takes the ride, with some familiarity of the horse’s capabilities; trainer and jockey work well together. Despite a slower trial time compared to stablemates, he is expected to race from behind but may lack the finishing kick of his rivals, making his chances uncertain.
