WITHOUT COMPARE

On September 11th (dirt trial 1200m: 5-5-6), the horse showed an average performance, responding adequately to urging in the bends. On June 25th (dirt trial 1200m: 7-6-8), it travelled wide throughout, appearing calm and relaxed. Returning from a break, this horse made a strong seasonal debut in April over a Happy Valley mile, settling towards the back and maintaining a steady pace before finishing with a strong late surge to win. Two barrier trials have been completed without demonstrating outstanding ability. Now stepping up to 1800m at Happy Valley for the first time, it faces a 7lb penalty this race. The barrier draw isn’t ideal and the jockey-trainer combination is not considered optimal, however, its finishing kick is the strongest in the field and the distance appears suitable, making a place finish possible.
